About RoboSub UTD

RoboSub UTD Team

RoboSub UTD is a competitive student organization dedicated to designing, building, and programming remote operated vehicles (ROVs) and autonomous . Our team competed in the annual MATE ROV and RoboBoat competitions, where we showcase our innovative solutions in submarine robotics and autonomous systems.

Founded by passionate engineering students, our team brings together diverse talents from computer science, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, and other disciplines. We work collaboratively to tackle complex challenges in underwater robotics, from advanced computer vision systems to sophisticated mechanical designs.

Through hands-on experience and mentorship, our members gain valuable skills in robotics, software development, and systems integration. We're not just building submarines – we're developing the next generation of engineers and problem-solvers.

Our Departments

Each department plays a crucial role in our team's success, bringing together diverse skills and expertise to create an advanced marine vehicles.

Programming Department
Our software team develops cutting-edge autonomous navigation systems, implements advanced computer vision algorithms, and creates robust control systems. We work with ROS2, Python, and C++ to make our submarine and boat think and act intelligently.
Mechanical Department
The mechanical team designs and fabricates our robots' frames, propulsion systems, and waterproof enclosures. We use CAD software, 3D printing, and traditional manufacturing techniques to create innovative solutions for marine challenges.
Electrical Department
Our electrical engineers design power distribution systems, integrate sensors, and create custom circuit boards. We manage complex battery systems and implement fail-safe mechanisms to ensure reliable operation in marine environments.
Business Department
The business team manages our resources, coordinates with sponsors, and handles competition logistics. We develop presentation materials, maintain documentation, and ensure the team's long-term sustainability.
